Commuter Benefits Overview

If you have transit and/or parking expenses while commuting to and from work and elect to participate in the Commuter program.

  • $315 – IRS limit for transit expenses
  • $315 – IRS limit for parking expenses
  • Commuter Transit includes train, subway, bus and ferry
  • Parking includes parking or parking meter near your place of employment

Tax-free commuter benefits, also known as qualified transportation fringes or accounts (QTA), are benefits that allow employees to reduce their monthly commuting expenses for mass transit and work-related parking costs.

TRANSIT ACCOUNT

Whether you take the train, bus, subway, ferries, (excluding Uber and Lyft), or a combination of these transit options to get to work, these costs are eligible expenses. Which means that no matter how you get to work, you can save money by using your commuter benefits.

PARKING ACCOUNT

If you commute with your own vehicle, you can make use of the parking benefit to pay for parking at/or near your regular place of employment.
